Spiritual Techniques

It seems to me that resorting to techniques so as to trigger a certain spiritual experience reflect a lesser degree of penetration of spiritual realities (these are mostly ego-driven : “ I can do this” and reveal an absence of faith)

Another aspect, very concrete, is that techniques can be taught, teachers can emerge and satisfy their self representation system.
Furthermore teachings can be changed.

    1. I dread emulation.
      Emotional display
      Self stimulation
Self conviction, dissociation of process into transmitter / recipient.
Like a love letter sent to oneself that we pretend to discover as we open it and rejoice to the smell of a delightful fragrance vaporized by none other but ourselves.
      (like Mr Bean would do)
We need it so much that we may even end up truly believing we have a secret lover somewhere.
People around will believe this too if we’re good enough at pretending / convincing ourselves.
The spiritual fraud snowballs from there.

    2. What zazen taught me : there is nothing that we have to do / can do anyway.
      Gesticulations are obstacles.
Everything is gesticulation, however exotic, technical…

Now, I call it grace and humility.
      Preparing the soil, at best….
