Touching the Earth

When the Buddha places his hand on the earth, from his sitting posture, he points to the immediacy, the direct simplicity of nature,

He experiences the profound, ultimate, uselessness of all the physical, psychic, conceptual artifices that one would put between one and the ground/deep nature,
He teaches and expresses unity.

At the point of contact between his fingers and the ground is the point of junction between
the great verticality of man which inhabits his deep nature
and the great horizontality which comes to sign the universality and simplicity of nature.
