Clinging to Forms, Sometimes

When sitting practice is difficult, respect for formal aspects is all that’s left to keep us going.

Hands joined, leaning to the left, leaning to the right, sacred mudra, eyes, gassho, wood, bell, bowl…

This is why you must preserve these aspects, especially when they seem unnecessary to you, in order to have them as close as possible in case you need them.
