Jesus, when he speaks of praying in one’s room with a closed door, teaches silent sitting.
“In your room”, in your interiority : not in public display, not in the glow of a temple we leave behind the plays of shimmering lights and far from the projections of others.
“Close your door”: not to be disturbed by the noises of the corridors or passing shadows.
The same way we face the wall in zazen.

There is nothing to gain by public display, and no advantage in distraction.
Not that gain or advantage have any real validity, either.
But the mind is so easily carried away by « busyness »…

yes…I sometimes think that trying to educate the « monkey-mind » is a mere waste of time and energy.
Watching it play from a distance and slowly turn away from its tricks and antics…is the best I can do.
Does not happen much, though.
