Here is a way of understanding the Buddhist concept of emptiness: none of the 5 aggregates: sensations, perceptions, mental formations, forms, consciousness… is worthy of the potential for diversion that, through ignorance, we attribute to it.
None of them is really capable of marking deep nature.

This renders the self as something apart from all of these. I am not my senses, thoughts etc, but (presumably) that which perceives them. Which puts consciousness in a strange position. What other than consciousness may perceive?

I believe Consciousness is fathomless
There’s always a deeper layer…as far as I can tell.
