Why has this unfair ploy for people worked so well since time immemorial ?
Perhaps this is because this adage is underpinned by a powerfully effective psychological principle of which it would be the political expression: affirmation.
Opposing A and B triggers the identification reflex in the individuals making up the target audience; they cement themselves around one of two camps and define themselves in opposition to the other one.
But this division is artificial since reality is eminently more complex than this artificially created dichotomy. The events of the world, when they meet the demarcation lines of clan A and B make them mobile and create uncertainty, increase the level of anxiety in individuals, they then rush into identification reflexes and assert themselves by emphasizing a particular aspect, driving a particular argument they cling to.
This gives them an acute (though erroneous) feeling of existence, towards which they develop an addiction and maintain a feverish relationship.
Freedom, then, is not won by the victory of A over B or of B over A, but by leaving the field divided in 2 and limited by the lines.
Freedom occurs when the actors notice that the world has been reduced in such a pathological way.

Oui, l’abandon de la prison des concepts nécessite un abandon.
Centimètre après centimètre ou sauter d’un coup.
Aussi, avoir suffisamment arpenté le royaume des concepts pour percevoir qu’il s’agit en réalité d’une prison.

Je n’ai jamais aimé les puzzles.
Le cadre final est la programmation de ma contrainte.
Nécessaire peut être, pédagogique…
L’art de limiter l’aire de jeu prend ensuite ma forme de l’action politico médiatique.
(Par ex, réduction artificielle du spectre des choix).

I think as you say, that duality is in our primitive bones… I worry that until we can see the creative potential and freedom of ambiguity this will only make things worse for us in the near future… Linda

I wish I could be more optimistic but the context surely doesn’t help…
Still, I do believe that oppositions can betranscended by inhabiting a deeper inner state.
This is what the practice of zazen has showed be on several occasion.
One thing is sure, though, I was not in command. which is good news, for, if such realizations do not depend on what we do, anyone can potentially and unexpectedly access such a state. Grace …
