Return to Simplicity

My friend,
Don’t spend too much time in dojos.
Don’t be captivated by the terminology and the monks’ robes.

For then you would miss the eternal freshness of the present moment.
The more you know, the further you stray from it.

Before being a sitting practice, the simple sitting practice is simple.
This simplicity is the opening of doors and the force of the free flow of currents leading you beyond.

Too much knowledge, too much discourse, too much fixation on points of doctrine, too much fascination with form and cultural context are all factors that stagnate these currents of liberation.
They can only express themselves in perfect freedom.

And the more experience and knowledge you acquire,
the more weight your words carry in the community,
the further you will have actually drifted from the practice.

      1. How could we ever have tea in such conditions ?
What kind of invitation would that be ?
You’re just trying to spiritually justify your intention to to come by. You won’t trick me with your old non-dualist rhetoric here, Simon.

      2. Really?

It strikes me that the implicit meaning of your description of your dojo is that you carry it within you. Everywhere.

Therefore, all I can ever do is carry the same within me.

This has nothing to do with a mug of tea – unless you wish to use that as a metaphor for « paradise, » I suppose. Physical location becomes irrelevant to practice. Therefore, we are neither constrained nor inhibited in boiling the kettle.

Either way, we can listen to the wind.

      3. A very sound incarnated behaviour.

We should have tea together some day?
I’ll show you my 3 square meter dojo.
If you can manage to cross the sea and drive for 2 hours.
